Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern any rental of a vehicle from Trans Lux Rent a Car ("Trans Lux", "we", "our"), a company registered in Montenegro with offices at Bečići. By making a booking or signing a rental agreement, you ("the Renter") accept these Terms in full.

• Vehicle: any car or van rented by the Renter from Trans Lux.
• Rental Agreement: the signed contract describing the specific Vehicle, dates, prices and any add-ons.
• Rental Period: the period from pickup to agreed return.
• CDW: Collision Damage Waiver. TP: Theft Protection.

• Minimum age: 21 years (25 for premium / convertible categories).
• Minimum 2 years of valid driving experience.
• A valid national or international driving licence and a passport or national ID must be presented at pickup.
• Additional drivers must be registered in the Rental Agreement and meet the same criteria. No additional fee applies.

Bookings can be made online, by phone, email or WhatsApp. The price quoted at the time of booking is final and includes VAT, basic insurance, unlimited mileage and airport delivery (within Montenegro).

Payment can be made:

• online by credit or debit card at the time of booking, or
• at pickup, in cash (EUR) or by card.

Most categories are rented with no deposit. Premium and convertible categories may require a refundable deposit between 200€ and 500€, blocked on a credit or debit card and released within 7 working days after return, provided no damage or fines are reported.

Vehicles are delivered clean, with a full tank and a written condition report. The Renter inspects the Vehicle and signs the report. Late returns of more than 1 hour are charged as one additional rental day.

Vehicles are delivered with a full tank and must be returned full. Missing fuel is charged at market price plus a 15€ refuelling fee. Mileage is unlimited within Montenegro and pre-approved cross-border destinations.

The Vehicle may not be used:

• by anyone not registered in the Rental Agreement;
• under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication;
• for racing, towing, off-road driving (unless contracted) or transport of dangerous goods;
• for paid passenger transport (taxi, ride-hailing);
• outside the agreed geographical area without written approval.

Cross-border travel requires written approval and an additional flat fee of 20€ per day spent abroad. Approved neighbouring countries: Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia.

Travel to other EU countries ("far countries") requires a minimum rental period of 7 days and a custom quote.

All rentals include compulsory third-party liability, CDW and TP with a deductible (excess), depending on category. The Renter may upgrade to:

• Partial coverage — reduces the deductible by 50%.
• Full coverage — eliminates the deductible and includes tyres, windshield, undercarriage and key loss.

Insurance does not cover damage caused by negligence, off-road driving, refuelling with the wrong fuel, or intoxication.

In case of an accident or theft, the Renter must immediately:

• call the police (122) and obtain a written report;
• inform Trans Lux within 24 hours;
• complete the European accident form and send photos.

Failure to provide a police report voids insurance coverage.

The Renter is fully responsible for all traffic fines, parking tickets and tolls during the Rental Period, including those received after return. An administrative fee of 15€ per fine is added when Trans Lux processes them on behalf of authorities.

• More than 48 hours before pickup: free cancellation, full refund.
• Within 48 hours: 1 rental day is charged.
• No-show: full booking amount is charged.
• Flight cancellation, visa rejection or documented force majeure: full refund upon proof.

Booking modifications (dates, vehicle category, location) are free of charge subject to availability. Differences in price will apply. No-shows without prior notice forfeit the booking amount.

We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.

Our website uses cookies as described in the Cookies section of our Privacy Policy. By continuing to use the website, you consent to the use of strictly necessary cookies; other categories require explicit consent.

Neither party is liable for failure to perform obligations due to events beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, strikes, pandemics, government measures or border closures.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Montenegro. Any dispute will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent court in Kotor, Montenegro.
